This body of work—a landmark study of spirituality in the United States—began in 2017 when I was Director of Movement Building for the Fetzer Institute. In partnership with Hattaway Communications, the first report came out in 2020. A new study was commissioned in 2022 at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic as we wanted to learn if and how spirituality helped people get through such difficulty. I continued to coordinate the project and was the lead author of the report published in 2023, featuring analysis of data from over 3,600 Americans.
Read more about the study and download a copy of the report from the Fetzer Institute website. This project truly was a labor of love as I was involved soup to nuts. I’m so proud of its release and am indebted to the Fetzer Institute for their support, my colleagues Mohammed Mohammed and Veronica Selzler, and the many reviewers and advisors who supported the study and made it stronger.
